EARN YOUR DEGREE IN OUR OVERSEAS LOCATIONS
Overseas you will earn the master's degree in Educational Technology from Michigan State University while staying in-residence at universities around the world. Studying overseas provides an opportunity for International Baccalaureate (IB), Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) and other international school educators a chance to work, learn and collaborate in a face-to-face setting. Previous overseas program locations have included England, Thailand, Switzerland and France.
Tentative summer dates are June 27 - July 23, 2010. Applications for Summer 2010 are now being accepted - please email msumaet@msu.edu for details.
A total of 30 semester credits are required to graduate with 9-credit enrollments each summer. In addition, students will take an online course after the second summer. All coursework must be completed in five years.
First Summer
Technology Emphasis: Productivity Tools, subject specific hardware and software, web design
Teaching & Learning Emphasis: Designing instruction using those technologies

Second Summer
Technology Emphasis: Web-based and emerging technologies
Teaching and Learning Emphasis: The web as a context for teaching and learning.
Topics may include digital literacy: finding, comprehending, and evaluating information, online and distance education, potentials and pitfalls, how the web changes the role of teachers and students, and web-based learning communities. Also, how to conduct action research and its role in professional development.

Elective Course - Between Summer 2 & 3
During Summer 2, you will meet with your academic advisor to choose your elective online course. There are 2 different academic paths to choose from:
NP and DoDEA Endorsment/Online Learning Path: If students are interested in receiving the State of Michigan NP Endorsement or the DoDEA School Educational Technologist (0485) Endorsement you must take CEP 820: Teaching K-12 Students Online
Subject Specific Path: Students may choose an online CEP elective from the current Schedule of Courses that aligns to their specific subject matter or educational interests.

Third Summer
Technology Emphasis: Multimedia Technologies (DV capture & editing, web-based audio & video, embedding MultiMedia)
Teaching and Learning Emphasis: How multimedia technology can be part of compelling educative experiences. Topics may include the nature of compelling experiences, and how to create compelling experiences with multimedia technology. Also, how to take on a more active leadership role in your profession.

Student Life
One of the distinctive features of our program is our attention to the quality of student life. Jean-Pierre Heussaff is the on-site manager of student life and is dedicated to providing "Royal service with a French touch." Indeed, "JP" attends to all aspects of student life including weekly field trips, afternoon and evening activities, travel arrangements, and many other aspects related to having a safe, comfortable experience. JP organizes weekend excursions such as sightseeing to beautiful Cornwall destinations, winery tours, fishing trips, and visits to local pubs and restaurants. He understands that the quality of the students' lives is an important reason why students enjoy and work hard in our program, look forward to coming back the following summer, and have fond memories of the program after they have graduated. Our students take comfort knowing that JP is always there to help them take care of any non-academic issues. Few other programs offer this level of service to their students.
